Mother of Late Teenager, Organ Donor, Honors Son’s Memory

Allison Johnson of Spartanburg, SC, lost her 17-year-old son Keegan to bacterial meningitis in 2020. But Keegan’s decision four months prior to his death to become an organ donor is now being celebrated by his family, organ transplant patients, and We Are Sharing Hope SC.

Matt Kaufax of Fox Carolina spoke to Allison Johnson, and We Are Sharing Hope SC director of communication Kristine Neal on the impact of Keegan’s organ donation.

“Last year 212 organ donors gave more than 500 people waiting for transplants a second chance at life. Keegan saved four lives with five major organs on his own.” – Matt Kaufax, Fox Carolina

“It blesses my heart and makes me happy to know that he is still very much alive and living through people that…their families get to have their loved ones.” – Allison Johnson

Kristine Neal of We Are Sharing Hope SC explained how the month of April, National Donate Life Month, is “an opportunity for us to share [Keegan’s] story, to inspire our community and to offer hope.”
